Nazuna Akao is a set designer and visual director originally from Tokyo, now based in London.

Her work explores the curiosity and playfulness of visual storytelling through objects, materials, and forms. She specializes in how materials and forms function within images, and how spatial composition creates depth and captures the viewer’s imagination. Her understanding of material effects in photographic lighting comes from more than ten years of experience styling on photoshoots.

As one of the few set designers in Tokyo at the time, when the field was still emerging, Nazuna began her career as an assistant editor and  has worked on a wide range of editorial and advertising projects since 2012.
